The major airport serving Fort Lauderdale is the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which is mere 15 minutes drive or 3 miles from south Fort Lauderdale Downtown. It has plenty of flights to and from domestic as well as international destinations, thus making it a major transportation hub. Tri-Rail: It is a commuter rail line connecting Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Miami Airport. The Tri-Rail is operated by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority.  Travelers landing at the Miami International Airport can use the Tri-Rail to reach Fort Lauderdale.
