The major airport serving Fort Lauderdale is the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which is mere 15 minutes drive or 3 miles from south Fort Lauderdale Downtown. It has plenty of flights to and from domestic as well as international destinations, thus making it a major transportation hub. Airlines serving the FLL airport include Spirit Airlines (Hub at this airport), Delta Airlines, JetBlue, Virgin America, US Airways and Southwest Airlines.

Tri-Rail: It is a commuter rail line connecting Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Miami Airport. The Tri-Rail is operated by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority.  Travelers landing at the Miami International Airport can use the Tri-Rail to reach Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale is easily accessible by car, thanks to its central location. The city is served by several interstate highways and U.S. highways. 

  • Interstate-95 is the main interstate highway that connects Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach and Miami. It is a north-south highway along the east side of Fort Lauderdale.
